Check the meanings of the verbs before you do the exercise in your coursebook p. 108

Verbs formed with up, down, over and under:

* overtake: exceed in numbers.

* overthrow: remove from power.

* overrule: change (by a superior)

* undercut: sell at a cheaper price than

* undergo: go through

* undertake: promise, make oneself responsible for.

* uproot: leave a place where you have settled down.

* uphold: confirm (a decision that had been questioned)

* downplay: appear less important than it is.

* downsize: reduce the size
